World Book Day
“Imagination is the only weapon in the war with reality” - Cheshire Cat, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Here at Bournemouth Day Nursery, we threw ourselves down the rabbit hole & went all out for World Book Day. At Talbot Woods, the Under 2s flaunted their adorable costumes in a photo shoot & then practised mark-making, colouring & colour matching. At Lansdowne Road, the Under 2s explored a sensory messy tray, finding hidden animal pictures & later listened to their favourite stories they'd brought from home.
Talbot Woods 123s made their own book covers whilst discussing their favourite stories, followed by party games including colour matching & musical chairs. At Lansdowne Road, 123s continued their work on the classic story “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” & made bread, which they then cut into bear shapes & decorated with raisins.
Lansdowne Road’s Pre-School class made rainbow unicorn Play-Doh birthday cakes, from the story “The Little Unicorn's Birthday". They also painted with carrots & pretended to be rabbits as in the story “I Love You Honey Bunny". At Talbot Woods, Pre School shared their favourite books & discussed their costumes. They also made table decorations from playing cards & baked scones for the “Mad Hatter’s Tea Party”, which was the ideal ending to a fun-filled day!
